Rubio is one of the strongest pro-life members of the Senate, and when he ran for President last year, Planned Parenthood and Hillary Clinton considered him a serious political threat and attacked him often as "anti-choice." Rubio had previously said he would not run for reelection to the Senate, so when he suspended his presidential campaign in March, Democrats saw an opportunity to take back his seat in Florida. Rep. Alan Grayson and Rep. Patrick Murphy, both Democrats, topped polls as the voters' choice to win Rubio's seat.
However, after numerous polls showed Rubio was the only Republican that could beat either Grayson or Murphy head-to-head, GOP leaders convinced him to run for reelection after all. That set Planned Parenthood off, knowing their biggest foe may be signing up for another tour.
Planned Parenthood even sent out the tweet shown above, saying Rubio is "undermining your #reporights" and mocking him with a GIF taken from a campaign video in which he is joking around with a young fan.
It seems kind of sad that Planned Parenthood is so determined to keep their baby-killing cash cow going that they would resort to these types of preemptive attacks. It shouldn't be much of a surprise, however. Why would an organization who sells baby parts for profit have any scruples about attacking a politician who wanted to hold them accountable?
