Debate Fact Check: Trump DOES take outside money

Part of Donald Trump’s appeal to GOP voters was his insistence that he was so rich that he could not be bought by special interests and didn’t need outside money.

During last night's debate at the Reagan Library, he again asserted that he is taking no money from anyone. It isn't a new claim. He has claimed that he had plenty of money to fund his campaign, and criticized Republican candidates who sought out donors. “I wish good luck to all of the Republican candidates that traveled to California to beg for money,” he recently tweeted.

It doesn't take much research to find that Trump's claims are completely false. He has, for some time, taken in donations.

A visit to DonaldJTrump.com now shows the real estate developer has added a donation page (shown below), where supporters can give as much as $2,700 to the self-professed billionaire’s campaign.

Trump himself has not addressed the donation page, nor answered whether he thinks supporters will see the move as hypocritical or a flip-flop on previous statements.
